Senior AI Research Scientist – AI, Cognition, & Human Autonomous Teams Program
Summary:
K seeks senior researchers to support DIA MSIC Programs, including TETRA’s mission in assessing and advancing Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) of Artificial Intelligence-enabled Human Autonomous Teams (HATs) and Superteams, cognitive electronic warfare (CEW), and advanced modeling and simulation (M&S). The researchers will investigate, publish, teach, and lead technical engagements that shape test and evaluation of emergent Department of War AI enabled systems, including HATs & Superteams.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead applied research in AI, cognition, human autonomous teaming, AI enabled EW, and mission relevant M&S for OT&E stakeholders.
- Publish peer reviewed papers, production of technical reports and white papers; present to Department of War (DoW), Defense Intelligence, academic, and industry audiences.
- Design and deliver technical coursework & training (seminars, workshops, etc).
- Facilitate/participate in AI and Threat Working Groups, produce agendas, artifacts, and decision briefings.
- Engage DoW customers (DOT&E directorates, Service T&E, DIA/MSIC) with timely, high-quality deliverables; lead cross functional tasking and risk management.
- PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or closely related field; equivalent advanced degree/experience combinations per K labor categories.
- 10–15+ years relevant DoW/Intelligence Community experience delivering research, analysis, or OT&E artifacts.
- Active TS (TS/SCI strongly preferred); ability to obtain and maintain TS//SCI clearance.
- Demonstrated record of profession peer reviewed publications in AI, cognition, teaming, EW, or M&S.
- Proven teaching/training ability and strong communication/briefing skills.
- High attention to detail; strong analytical rigor; stakeholder engagement with mixed technical/operational audiences.
- Familiarity with cognitive EW, HATs, superteams, AI enabled threat systems modeling, and OT&E of AI Enabled Systems.
- Primary duty location:
Huntsville, AL (MSIC / Redstone Gateway). Remote/Work from home is acceptable. Occasional travel to DoW/IC/Industry/Academic sites required (< 20%).
