Remote location:
The role is open to candidates residing in the following states: AL, AZ, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV. Remote status and role locations are subject to change. Relocation is not provided.

Employees within a 90‑minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters must be in‑office at least 4 days per month (10 a.m.‑2 p.m.). This requirement does not apply to support‑specialist positions.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented Support Software Engineer to join our growing team. The role supports critical health benefits infrastructure—including HSA administration, banking integrations, and regulatory compliance—and works directly with production data involving real‑money movement, tax reporting, and multi‑bank operations.

  • Support Engineering and Operations
  • Respond to internal support requests, troubleshoot and fix technical issues such as executing data corrections, processing trustee‑to‑trustee transfers and settlements, and overseeing money movement.
  • Conduct initial investigation and debugging of reported problems, escalating when necessary.
  • Leverage and contribute to internal documentation and runbooks to resolve issues independently.
  • Identify and route unresolved issues to the appropriate engineering or product teams.
  • Use AI to augment productivity while maintaining engineering judgment and ensuring AI‑generated code meets quality standards.
  • Monitor operational dashboards, error logs, and alerting systems to ensure system health and address ongoing technical issues.
  • Escalate anomalies or critical system alerts for immediate attention.
  • Perform root cause analysis on reported problems and document findings.
  • Partner with engineering, product, treasury, and operations teams to refine internal troubleshooting processes and share knowledge.
  • Identify patterns in support requests to inform product or engineering improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience in a software engineering role.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Practical AI experience—comfortable using Claude Code, Git Hub Copilot, ChatGPT for prototyping, debugging, and problem‑solving.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with banking/payment APIs such as Plaid (or similar)
  • Experience with Google Big Query or similar data warehousing tool
  • Strong sense of ownership and follow‑through
  • Prior experience in a customer support or technical troubleshooting role
Other Requirements
  • Infrequent travel (10%)
  • Ability to occasionally work overtime or after hours
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk using a computer
Pay Range ($68,800–$79,600 per year) Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, and experience. The package may include incentive and bonus opportunities.
