Job Description & How to Apply Below

Bridge Phase is a software engineering company focused on designing, building, securing, and operating cutting-edge software solutions that drive mission success and operational excellence for Federal Government organizations. We support the Air Force’s pursuit of technological superiority by delivering modern Dev Sec Ops  platforms and cloud-native capabilities that enable secure, scalable, and resilient software delivery across the Department of Defense.

We’re looking for a Kubernetes Platform Engineer to join our team supporting the U.S. Air Force’s Platform One Big Bang product. In this role, you will help design, operate, and continuously improve a secure, consumable Kubernetes platform that enables mission software teams to deploy and operate applications efficiently across complex environments. You will work closely with platform engineers, developers, and security teams to deliver cloud-native infrastructure and tooling aligned with DoD Dev Sec Ops  objectives.

We are hiring for fully remote positions, with optional quarterly travel to San Antonio, TX or Colorado Springs, CO for in-person collaboration with the product team.

In this position, you can expect to:
  • Design, deploy, and operate highly available, scalable, and secure Kubernetes clusters and supporting infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain a consumable platform of open-source, cloud-native applications and tooling for mission software teams.
  • Build and enhance automation frameworks to streamline platform deployment, upgrades, and day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate with development teams to architect and support CI/CD pipelines and workflows for containerized applications.
  • Implement and enforce Kubernetes security best practices, including RBAC, network policies, secret management, and security hardening.
  • Support complex Kubernetes use cases, including edge deployments and environments with intermittent connectivity.
  • Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and performance tuning to ensure efficient platform utilization.
  • Partner with security teams to identify, remediate, and prevent vulnerabilities through audits and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate emerging Kubernetes features, tools, and technologies, recommending enhancements to improve platform reliability and usability.
  • Document platform architectures, configurations, and operational procedures to support knowledge sharing and long-term sustainability.
Preferred

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including deploying, managing, and scaling containerized workloads.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and core components such as pods, services, deployments, replica sets, and name spaces.
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Strong Linux/Unix systems administration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience deploying and operating applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Solid understanding of networking, storage, and security concepts as they apply to Kubernetes environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and workflows (e.g., Jenkins, Git Lab CI) and version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting in Kubernetes environments (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production or multi‑tenant environments is a plus.

As mission needs evolve, your expertise will play a critical role in strengthening the Kubernetes platforms that enable secure, scalable software delivery across the DoD. We’re looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges, embrace continuous learning, and are motivated by mission impact.
