Job DescriptionWhat if your skills could power the personalized marketing messages that reach millions of Southwest Customers? The Senior Email Digital Developer supports the Marketing Campaign Development Team within Marketing Operations by building and deploying email, push, SMS, and inapp communications using platforms like Adobe Campaign and Airship. They'll design, code, test, and support digital messaging using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, AMPscript, and other tools while resolving production issues and managing specialized workflows for high visibility Chase Acquisition credit card campaigns.
Through technical expertise, collaboration, and attention to detail, the Senior Email Digital Developer is excited to elevate Southwest's digital marketing capabilities and support impactful communication that drives Customer engagement and business results.
This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in an approved remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site.

Responsibilities- Apply knowledge and skills of software development, marketing automation, and testing effectively to solve a range of problems
- Work alongside other developers and engineers on the team to elevate the digital experience and consistently apply best practices
- Collaborate closely with business owners, product owners, and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and meet deadlines
- Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance
- Determine and assess the needs of the user/business then create technical solutions to meet the requirements
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during the design, testing, and maintenance processes using problem-solving skills
- Work in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality, technical implementations across a variety of on premise and cloud-based Service as a Software (SaaS) platforms
- Deliver complex solutions by executing, maintaining, and optimizing specifications, standards, and programming while adhering to project timelines
- Responsible for the creation of complex emails, push, in app, and SMS communications as well as automated, multi-touch campaigns, including, but not limited to, html development, audience building, testing, quality control, and deployment
- Recommend program enhancements, optimizations, and automation across campaign workflows, communication deliverability, industry best practices and trends, testing, and the emerging marketing technology landscape
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies
- Advanced knowledge of email HTML code standards and ability to independently troubleshoot rendering issues in a wide array of configurations
- Advanced knowledge of at least one required programming language (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
- Advanced knowledge of email best practices and passion to stay ahead of marketing trends in the channel
- Ability to demonstrate consistent knowledge application, skills of front-end development, and testing to solve a range of problems
- Ability to partner, communicate, and negotiate with various Technology, Marketing, Digital Experience, or Customer Experience teams
- Ability to analyze and manage large, complex, and vague business or technical problems, articulating the problem or root cause, and translating the analysis into viable solution recommendations
