The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is the nation’s largest public pension fund, providing retirement and health benefits to public employees, retirees, and their families. We are seeking an experienced data professional to serve as the technology and data lead of a high‑performing team, building a next‑generation data warehouse focused on the investments domain and collaborating with pension, health plan, and back‑office data warehouses.

This Principal Data Analytics Specialist will lead strategic planning, architecture, governance, and delivery of advanced data analytics solutions for the CalPERS Investment Office.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and executing technology direction for data analytics.
• Designing data strategy, integration architecture, and data warehousing solutions.
• Managing metadata, governance, and Snowflake administration.
• Designing Power BI solutions, including development and support.
• Monitoring performance, benchmarking, and tool evaluation.
• Collaborating with business architecture teams and mentoring team members.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite per week.

Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
