Job DescriptionThe Syracuse University Libraries invites applications for an Information Technology Analyst. This position is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, administration, maintenance, and security of IT infrastructure supporting the Libraries’ staff and patrons. This position will review requests for system modifications and analyze the complexity, scope, and feasibility of implementing the modifications. They will assist with special projects such as new system implementation, integration, design, or migration.
In conjunction with other Library IT (LIT) staff, draft proposals based on the evaluation of new technologies. Responds to security incidents, monitors and mitigates IT security vulnerabilities and threats.
Shares, but serves as primary teammate responsible for desktop management/support, account administration, help desk, meeting room, and copier/printing support with other LIT staff members.
Education and ExperienceRequired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus 3-5 years relevant experience in information technologies/computer science, as necessary.
- A valid driver’s license and a vehicle are required for this position.
- Windows and Linux server concepts and best practices.
- Microsoft cloud platform (Office
365, Entra) concepts and best practices. - Power Shell scripting and task automation.
- Windows and macOS client management concepts and best practices.
- Database management (MS SQL , MySQL, SQL ).
- Utilization of tools, utilities, and scripting for software packaging, OS deployment, and application deployment such as, Jamf, Intune, Windows Installer, and Power Shell.
- Create and update documentation for all job duties.
- Communicate well and is a team player.
- Work collaboratively on multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Investigating, diagnosing, and resolving complex technology issues
- Desktop operating systems (Windows, MacOS).
- Network printer and copier deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting using a Windows print server.
- Fleet management tools (Intune, Jamf).
- Virtualization environments (VMWare).
- Network topology knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Utilize tools, utilities, and scripting for software packaging, OS deployment, and application deployment such as, Jamf, Intune, Windows Installer, and Power Shell.
- Stay current on computing security, privacy issues, and practice.
- Provide recommendations for enhancements based on best practices.
- Provide desktop management via Intune, Power Shell, and other scripting technologies.
- Coordinate and communicate with other campus IT units.
- Demonstrate skills in investigating, diagnosing, and resolving problems.
