The Salesforce Release Manager owns release management for a portfolio of Salesforce applications and delivery teams, serving as the central authority for planning, coordinating, and executing releases in a regulated federal environment. This role blends release governance with hands‑on Dev Ops execution, ensuring Salesforce changes are deployed safely, predictably, and in alignment with schedules, quality gates, and compliance requirements. The role emphasizes Copado‑driven CI/CD, environment strategy, cut‑over planning, and operational readiness, while continuously improving release reliability and delivery outcomes.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Own release management for a portfolio of Salesforce applications and delivery teams.
  • Design and maintain release windows, freeze periods, deployment sequencing, and cut‑over plans.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute Salesforce releases using Copado‑based CI/CD pipelines.
  • Coordinate dependencies across multiple teams, vendors, and parallel work streams.
  • Drive release readiness reviews, go/no‑go meetings, and rollback strategies.
  • Execute and oversee Salesforce deployments involving Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, metadata, integrations, and managed packages.
  • Work closely with Dev Ops to define pipeline approvals, quality gates, and promotion criteria.
  • Support hotfixes, emergency releases, and recovery activities with minimal production impact.
  • Maintain consistency and stability across Salesforce environments including Development, Test, UAT, Pre‑Production, and Production.
  • Coordinate sandbox strategy, refresh planning, and environment readiness in alignment with release schedules.
  • Enforce deployment traceability, auditability, and release documentation through Copado and Jira.
  • Serve as the primary coordination point between Salesforce developers, administrators, QA, Dev Ops, security, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide clear release communications, deployment status updates, and release notes through Jira and Confluence.
  • Monitor deployment success and failure trends and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Analyze release metrics, cycle times, and incidents to improve reliability, predictability, and throughput.
  • Maintain and evolve release runbooks, standard operating procedures, and release documentation.
  • Contribute to the maturation of Dev Sec Ops  practices and Salesforce platform governance standards.
Knowledge and Skills Required
  • 4–7 years of experience owning release management for a portfolio in complex IT environments.
  • Proven experience designing release windows, freeze periods, and cut‑over strategies.
  • Hands‑on experience executing Salesforce deployments using Copado in multi‑environment ecosystems.
  • Experience working with Dev Ops teams on CI/CD pipelines, approvals, and automated quality gates.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple teams, vendors, and cross‑system dependencies.
  • Solid understanding of Salesforce platform components, dependencies, and deployment constraints.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent releases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Knowledge and Skills Desired
  • Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Government Cloud and enterprise security considerations.
  • Exposure to Dev Sec Ops  practices, automated testing, and compliance validation within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience supporting sustainment programs, technical debt remediation, or platform hardening efforts.
