Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Work Location:
Rockville, MD (Remote)
Contract Length: 6+Months (Possible to extend)

Note:
Remote We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the Medicine Supply Map, which identifies, characterizes, and quantifies risk in the upstream pharmaceutical supply chain. We want to proactively protect patient access to quality medicines through the implementation of a directed acyclic graph, lots of string matching, and an interactive website. - 30% Model Development & ML Systems:
Lead the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and data pipelines to support the Medicine Supply Map and other strategic initiatives. - 25% Data & Feature Engineering:
Write and maintain high-quality, scalable Python code, contributing directly to feature engineering, data integration, and algorithm optimization. - 25% Model Explainability & Stakeholder Enablement:
Design and implement model explainability frameworks that translate model behavior into intuitive, customer-facing insights. Partner closely with the product to ensure model outputs can be clearly explained to users. - 10%
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, product, and external stakeholders, to define requirements, prioritize projects, and ensure successful delivery of data-driven solutions. - 10% Represent the team in strategic planning, stakeholder meetings, and external engagements, effectively communicating technical insights and project impact.
- Professional experience in data science, machine learning, or software engineering, including experience leading technical projects or teams.
- At least two (2) years of experience working with data in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the end-to-end development of machine learning solutions—from stakeholder engagement and data sourcing to modeling, evaluation, and deployment.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with scalable, production-level code development.
- Familiarity with modern data engineering tools and frameworks such as Kedro and PySpark.
- Experience working in cloud environments (e.g., AWS) and with version control systems like Git.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, startup-like environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and contribute to thought leadership through publications or presentations.
- Education:
An advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in computer science, data science, health informatics, statistics, or a related technical field. - Thank you for your time and I look forward to receiving your reply today.
