Technical Writer – Remote – 6 month Contract to Hire
OverviewResponsible for creating, maintaining, and improving technical documentation across all enterprise technologies, including applications, infrastructure, security, cloud, and emerging platforms. Works closely with technical and business teams to translate complex concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly materials for diverse audiences such as internal leaders, end-users, and external partners. Ensures documentation aligns with organizational standards, supports knowledge sharing, and enhances adoption of technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, edit, and maintain comprehensive documentation for enterprise technology solutions, including architecture reference, user manuals, technical specifications, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, engineering, security, operations, and business units) to gather accurate information and ensure technical correctness.
- Create training materials, quick reference guides, and presentations to support onboarding and enablement.
- Maintain documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Git Hub Enterprise) with proper version control and accessibility.
- Design engaging visual content using tools like PowerPoint or Visio to communicate technical concepts effectively.
- Ensure documentation reflects current technologies, processes, and compliance requirements.
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve clarity, usability, and relevance.
- Support knowledge transfer through self-managed workshops, webinars, and internal communication channels.
- Technical Writing Expertise (Advanced) – Demonstrates mastery in producing clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate documentation for complex technical topics across multiple domains.
- Technology Breadth (Advanced) – Understands a wide range of technologies (cloud, on-prem, networking, security, applications, and emerging tech) and can translate technical details into accessible language.
- Content Management (Intermediate) – Manages documentation lifecycle, including version control, repository organization, and compliance with enterprise standards.
- Communication & Visualization (Advanced) – Creates compelling presentations and diagrams to simplify technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration (Advanced) – Works effectively with engineers, architects, and business leaders to gather requirements and validate content accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in technology-driven environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT concepts (applications, infrastructure, security, cloud, and emerging technologies).
- Proficiency in documentation tools (Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, Git Hub Enterprise; others a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience as technical writer for an enterprise architecture program.
- Prior technical writing experience in a healthcare setting.
