Job Description

Design Training that Powers Innovation. Build Learning that Drives Technical Excellence. We’re looking for a creative, technically savvy Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) who loves transforming complex engineering and manufacturing concepts into engaging, effective learning experiences. In this role, you will design world‑class ILT, VILT, and eLearning content that supports automotive manufacturing equipment training and a variety of technical subject areas. If you thrive at the intersection of learning design, industrial technology, multimedia development, and client collaboration, this is the role where your expertise will shine.

What

You’ll Do Lead Instructional Strategy & Needs Analysis
  • Conduct needs assessments, task analyses, and job analyses to identify performance gaps and define training requirements.
  • Translate analysis into learning strategy, design documents, and solution recommendations.
  • Consult directly with engineering, manufacturing, and technical SMEs to extract accurate content and ensure high‑quality instructional outcomes.
  • Participate in both virtual and onsite meetings to gather requirements and validate learning approaches.
Design High‑Impact Technical Learning
  • Design Instructor‑Led Training (ILT), Virtual ILT (VILT), and Web‑Based Training (WBT) for technical and automotive manufacturing audiences.
  • Create design documents, storyboards, scripts, architecture reviews, and curriculum maps.
  • Write compelling, scenario‑driven instructional content that simplifies complex mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing concepts.
  • Develop structured curricula based on specific equipment, machinery, production processes, and job pathways.
  • Create video‑based work instructions and performance support materials.
Develop Engaging Multimedia & eLearning
  • Build modern, interactive eLearning using:
Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Vyond, Captivate, Lectora (as applicable).
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Audition, etc.) to enhance design quality.
  • Create animations, graphics, videos, and visual assets that elevate the learner experience.
  • Produce simulations, process walk‑throughs, decision activities, and technical job aids.
  • Create job pathways and technical skill progression materials.
Manage Projects & Deliver Quality
  • Maintain project plans, timelines, and deliverables; partner with Business Operations, project managers, and client leaders.
  • Facilitate review cycles with SMEs and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Conduct pilot sessions, usability tests, and content evaluations.
  • Implement revisions based on learner feedback and performance data.
  • Archive completed training and maintain structured documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Applied Science or Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, course development, or technical training development.
  • Demonstrated excellence in ILT, VILT, and WBT development.
  • Strong technical writing skills — able to break down complex manufacturing concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency with:
Articulate Storyline & Rise, Vyond or Synthesia, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience creating technical training, video‑based instructions, or manufacturing‑related content.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing training for automotive manufacturing, industrial systems, or engineering audiences.
  • Familiarity with project management practices and tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, equipment, and technical concepts.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and cross‑culturally with engineering and operations teams.
  • Experience with LMS workflows (upload, testing, SCORM/xAPI).
  • Strong critical thinking, creativity, and problem‑solving skills.
Work Location
  • Hybrid role:
    • Work from home.
    • 2–3 days per week onsite at client facilities in Dearborn, Michigan.
