📍Your Impact Starts HereWe’re looking for an Engineering Manager 2 to lead our Identity & Notifications team, part of the Core Platform organization. This team ensures secure and seamless user access, reliable communication, and the technical foundations that power millions of small business users. As a key partner in our AI-first engineering culture, you’ll guide a talented group of engineers in scaling the systems that make Homebase secure, fast, and trusted.
You’ll lead a team of 5 engineers to design and deliver critical infrastructure, collaborating closely with our Trust & Security, Data, and broader Engineering teams. Together, you’ll help define and build the next generation of authentication, authorization, and messaging experiences at Homebase.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 5 engineers (IC1–IC4), fostering a culture of technical excellence, psychological safety, and velocity.
- Deliver on a 12-month roadmap focused on rolling out a new Identity data model
, modernizing Authorization
, and improving Authentication systems. - Partner cross-functionally with Trust & Security
, Data
, and Core Engineering to ensure seamless integrations and high reliability. - Maintain strong alignment with the Core Platform mission: powering scalable, secure, and efficient systems across the Homebase ecosystem.
- Coach the team in using AI tools for development efficiency
, reinforcing our AI-first approach to engineering. - Ensure operational excellence using observability tools to monitor performance, reliability, and delivery across services.
- Drive continuous improvement in code quality, testing, and release velocity.
These are the experiences and strengths that will set you up for success in this role:
- 3–5+ years of experience in software engineering leadership roles.
- Prior experience managing high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong technical foundation in Ruby
, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and event-driven systems
. - Familiarity with authentication
, authorization
, and/or notifications (SMS, email, push) systems. - Passion for setting clear technical and delivery priorities driven by customer challenges.
