Job Description
We are hiring Python engineers to support a high-urgency data migration program as part of a recent acquisition. This role is focused on data transformation jobs—extracting flat data from Snowflake, transforming it into nested JSON, and persisting it into DB2 (often as CLOBs) for downstream Java ingestion. This is a Linux, bare-metal, backend-only environment. You will build transformation jobs largely from scratch and operate with minimal supervision under tight delivery milestones.
The contract will be short-term through the end of October or sooner. It can sit remotely working EST or CST.
Responsibilities- Develop and support Python (3.12.11) ETL/transformation jobs running on Linux
- Extract flat datasets from Snowflake and transform them into nested JSON objects
- Insert transformed payloads into DB2 (including writing to CLOB columns where required)
- Write and execute DB2 SQL (queries, inserts, validations)
- Implement file mapping/entity mapping logic (e.g., company, user, access-right structures)
- Validate transformations, handle data exceptions, and support batch-style processing
- Collaborate with backend Java teams consuming DB2 outputs into entitlement services/tables

- 5+ years Python for ETL / strong data transformation (not app dev)
- Hands-on experience transforming flat relational data into complex nested JSON structures
- DB2 & SQL – Strong SQL skills; ability to work with DB2 / understanding DB2 syntax to be able to run SQL statements
- Experience working in Linux environments (CLI, job execution, troubleshooting)
- Comfortable building jobs with minimal frameworks (standard libraries, pragmatic code)
- Snowflake (querying, extracting datasets)
- Basic conceptual knowledge of LDAP and JWT (awareness only; not implementing auth)
- Identity / entitlements exposure
- Payments knowledge - ACH / wires / templates
- Application Performance Monitoring / Logging software (Dynatrace /Splunk)
