Sr Project Manager

Overview

Our client, a large financial services firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for a 6-month remote contract, with occasional onsite engagement as needed.

The Senior Project Manager will lead complex virtualization, infrastructure, and cloud transformation projects within a professional services environment. The ideal candidate brings robust Agile project leadership, deep experience with VMware-based solutions, and the ability to adapt to a proprietary services delivery model while driving measurable customer outcomes.

• Oversee end-to-end delivery of projects—ensuring they meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain project artifacts including charters, scope documents, WBS, estimates, resource plans, budgets, schedules, risks, and issue logs across multiple work streams.
• Direct and monitor daily project activities, identify resource needs, perform quality reviews, and escalate issues, as necessary.
• Apply Agile practices while adapting to the client’s proprietary services delivery methodology.
• Define and manage overall project risks and take corrective action in a proactive manner to mitigate risks and prevent issues.
• Direct and monitor work efforts on a daily basis, identify resource needs, perform quality review, and escalate functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.
• Provide clear and timely communication regarding the status of the project – schedule, budget, progress to date, risks, etc. – to relevant stakeholders.
• Engage with sales and account teams to identify/drive account growth opportunities and drive product adoption.
• Drive continuous improvement of project processes – methodology, templates, best practices, etc. based on lessons learned from projects.

• Minimum of 5+ years’ technical program/project management experience delivering IT-enterprise solutions within a professional services organization.
• Solid experience working independently in a fast-paced environment on complex engagements across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Must be comfortable interfacing with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong history of leading IT infrastructure projects (networking virtualization, etc.), strong preference for VMware technologies (e.g., VCF, vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria Suite).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven Agile project delivery experience for enterprise-level customer engagements.
• Expert-level proficiency in project management tools like Clarity, Jira, or MS Project.
• PMP and/or Agile certifications (e.g., PMI-ACP, CSM, SAFe) strongly preferred.
• Ability to obtain a VMware VSP 9 certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work remotely with occasional travel if needed.

  BA/BS in Business, IT, or a related field.

The expected hourly rate range for this role is: $65-$85 per hour.

The posted range is an estimate; the actual compensation offer will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications and will be in line with internal equity.
