Position: REMOTE - UX Designer (Contingent)
Location: New York

Contract Contingency Notice:
This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment offers will be extended only upon successful contract award and client approval. Candidates may be considered and interviewed in advance to support rapid onboarding should the contract be awarded.

The UX Designer I is an entry- to early-career design professional who supports the creation of intuitive, inclusive, and user-focused digital products across Wilcore’s federal programs. Working under the guidance of senior designers and product teams, this individual assists in conducting user research, developing wireframes and prototypes, and ensuring that design solutions meet accessibility, usability, and compliance standards.

This role offers exposure to human-centered design, federal accessibility standards, and Agile delivery environments, providing hands‑on experience that supports professional growth within Wilcore’s UX career path.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years experience in UX/UI, product, or interaction design
  • Familiarity with human-centered design principles and usability testing methods.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
  • Solid understanding of usability principles and user-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience conducting usability tests and analyzing user feedback to inform design decisions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required (due to federal contracting requirements).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Certification in UX design or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Experience contributing to design systems or component libraries.
  • Experience with advanced prototyping tools like InVision or Axure.
Responsibilities
  • Support user experience design activities for web and mobile applications through research, wire framing, and prototyping.
  • Participate in user research activities such as interviews, usability testing, and feedback analysis under senior mentorship.
  • Translate user insights and requirements into low- and mid-fidelity wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes.
  • Contribute to design documentation, pattern libraries, and accessibility reviews.
  • Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback to improve deliverables and design quality.
  • Learn and apply Agile methodologies, participating in sprint planning and team stand‑ups.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, collaboration, and attention to detail while growing in design maturity and independence.
Skills

The required skills such as User Research and Usability Testing are essential for gathering and validating user insights that guide design decisions. Proficiency in Sketch and other prototyping tools enables the creation of clear, interactive design prototypes that communicate ideas effectively to stakeholders and development teams. UX Design and Interaction Design skills are applied daily to craft intuitive interfaces that enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

User-Centered Design and Design Thinking methodologies are integrated into every stage of the design process to ensure solutions are empathetic and problem-focused. Preferred skills like knowledge of accessibility and front-end technologies further enhance the ability to create inclusive and technically feasible designs.
