Position: REMOTE- Senior SRE/ Platform Engineer
An employer is seeking an experienced Senior SRE/ Platform Engineer to join our Platform & Networking team within the Product and Technology Group (PTX). This role will drive the modernization of our infrastructure by leading the migration of workloads from traditional Windows VMs to cloud-native Kubernetes clusters managed by Rancher, while simultaneously building and owning a production-grade Redgate Database Dev Ops platform (Flyway + Test Data Management) that empowers our BI team with secure, automated database delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
Design, implement, and maintain Git Ops-driven infrastructure using Git Lab/Git Hub, Open Tofu/Terraform, and Ansible.
Lead the migration of services and applications from Windows VMs to containerized workloads on Rancher-managed Kubernetes clusters in Azure and/or AWS.
Deploy, configure, and own enterprise Redgate platform, including Redgate Flyway for database migrations and Redgate Test Data Management (TDM).
Integrate Redgate tools into BI team workflows and establish standardized database CI/CD pipelines with SQL Source Control.
Partner directly with BI developers to onboard them to modern database Dev Ops practices.
Build and enhance centralized logging, monitoring, and observability capabilities across the platform.
Rapidly diagnose and resolve environment issues in collaboration with the Platform & Networking team.
Maintain up-to-date, high-quality documentation and infrastructure-as-code repositories.
Continuously improve automation, security, reliability, and cost efficiency of the platform.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of hands-on experience as SRE/ platform engineer
Well versed with Git Lab and/or Git Hub (CI/CD pipelines, Git Ops)

Experience with Terraform or Open Tofu
Strong skills with Ansible and Kubernetes (Rancher experience strongly preferred)
Proven background in migrating workloads from VMs to Kubernetes in Azure and/or AWS
Strong experience with SQL Server and database Dev Ops practices (source control, migrations, automated testing)
Solid scripting skills (Power Shell, Python, Bash)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience implementing Redgate Flyway and/or Redgate Test Data Management in production
Experience supporting highly parameterized SQL Server ETL/BI environments
Relevant certifications (CKA/CKAD, Terraform Associate, AWS/Azure certifications)
Prior work with Rancher, AKS, or EKS at scale
