AI​/ML Engineer

Overview

This role is for an AI/ML Engineer, remote in Richmond, VA, for 6 months at $94.6/hr requires 5-8 years in ML model development, proficiency in Python, and experience with Git Hub workflows. Familiarity with LLM models and structured data is preferred.

• AI/ML Engineer working with a team to create a product.
• Work with other experts (weather data experts).
• Design, train and test ML models for project outcomes.
• Participate in retrospectives, reflecting and sharing on successes and failures.
• Adhere to Product AI governance and security requirements.

• 5-8 years developing machine learning models.
• 4-8 years writing production-grade code (Python and ML libraries).
• Demonstrated ability to design, train and test ML models for project outcomes.
• Ability to work with other experts.
• Communication & collaboration: clear writing, stakeholder engagement, and ability to translate technical progress for leadership.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with development practices - Git Hub workflows, code review culture, VSCode use, and team board (Git Hub, Jira, etc.).

• Experience using LLM models.
• High levels of curiosity and logical reasoning; comfort with ambiguity.
• Experience with both structured and unstructured data.
• Experience using JSON, JSON Lines, CSV, YAML, etc.
• Experience in fast-paced applied environments, stakeholder-driven reviews, and iterative prototype refinement.
• Ability to decompose, break ambiguous goals into testable hypotheses and identify what must be solved now vs. later.
• Ability to design and implement proof-of-concept prototypes for delivery into operational use.
