Job Description
The Solutions System Specialist reports to the System Specialist Senior Manager and is responsible for all solutions delivery activities. The role requires a strong technical background and experience leading technology delivery, along with stellar communication skills to interact with both technical resources and customers.
Responsibilities include providing overall technical leadership for project implementation, working with customers to understand solution needs, and leading the project’s technical and program discussions. The Specialist will own the technical solution from pre‑ and post‑sale, develop deployment schedules, identify and mitigate technical risks, manage change control, and act as the technical counterpart to the Project Manager in vendor, customer, and internal meetings.
This is a remote position with approximately 50% travel. Qualified candidates may reside anywhere in the US but must be close to a major airport due to travel expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Understand technical requirements, concepts of operation, and architecture of overall solutions.
- Lead the project’s technical and program discussions.
- Build and maintain positive, effective, mutually beneficial alliances with customers.
- Apply change management and systems engineering processes, collaborating with customer and engineering teams for third‑party application implementations.
- Plan project deliverables with other resource managers.
- Act as design authority for solutions supported by the Platform team.
- Participate in development of process and procedures.
- Assist Project Management in managing costs and schedules by identifying technical risks and suggesting mitigation options.
- Drive process improvement and best practices.
- Serve as the technical counterpart to the Project Manager for third‑party, customer, and internal meetings.
- Initiate problem‑solving actions and follow through to resolution.
- Perform root‑cause analysis for problems and recommend improved operational alternatives.
- Identify and suggest possible system and/or process improvements when applicable.
- Run diagnostics using approved MSI tools.
- Provide system performance reporting using approved MSI tools when requested.
- Understand system dependencies and related connections.
- Maintain subject‑matter expert skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in public safety application deployment, integration and/or operations and administration.
- Experience in one of the following areas:
Public Safety, Business Analysis, Field Service, CAD, Record Management Systems, and Jail Applications. - Self‑motivated team player who can work effectively with general guidance toward objectives.
- Experience designing and implementing complex systems, including integration with third‑party products and services.
- Knowledge of public safety operating environments and familiarity with next‑generation public safety trends and standards.
- Working knowledge of:
- Server virtualization (VMware and Open Shift).
- Database servers (Microsoft SQL Server).
- Networking (TCP/IP protocols).
- Experience leading highly complex projects.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills to make decisions, troubleshoot issues, and exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all team members.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States indefinitely.
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.
- Eligibility to work in high‑security areas governed by the Department of Justice’s CJIS Security Policy and successful completion of stringent fingerprint background checks.
