Niyam is seeking an experienced Solution Architect/Technical Lead to support one of our federal clients. The Solution Architect serves as the technical leader for the program, partnering closely with the Project Manager to define and guide the overall solution architecture in alignment with business and product objectives. This role is responsible for shaping architectural standards, leading technology selection and system design, and ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable solutions that meet both functional and non‑functional requirements.
The Solution Architect remains hands on when needed, contributing to development, reviewing critical components, and promoting clean code, automated testing, and modern Dev Ops practices. Working within an Agile environment, this individual collaborates with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, and enterprise stakeholders to break down complex initiatives into practical, incremental deliverables, while mentoring team members and guiding architectural decision making.
The role also supports production readiness, operational stability, and continuous improvement, clearly communicating technical direction, risks, and trade‑offs to both technical and nontechnical audiences to ensure successful delivery of mission focused solutions. This position is a part‑time role and will be onsite at client location in Ashburn, VA up to three (3) days per week.
- Define and own end‑to‑end solution architecture aligned with business and product goals.
- Establish or support existing architectural principles, standards, and technical guardrails.
- Lead technology selection, system design, and integration strategies.
- Actively contribute to software development through hands‑on coding as needed.
- Design, develop, and review critical components and shared services.
- Support agile delivery by shaping technical backlog items and solution increments.
- Break down complex solutions into scalable, incremental, and shippable components.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and development teams.
- Provide technical leadership during sprint planning, execution, and reviews.
- Guide architectural decision‑making and document key decisions (e.g., ADRs).
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding and quality standards.
- Ensure non‑functional requirements are met, including security, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Promote clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, and Dev Ops best practices.
