AI Developer

Overview

AI Developer on the Air Power team. You are an experienced AI engineer who understands that AI systems are critical to processing large datasets and delivering customer-focused solutions. You will train, test, deploy, and maintain models that learn from data and guide clients through Agentic Frameworks.

You will collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, solutions architects, and product owners to deliver world-class solutions and optimize organizational efficiency. You will help define the ML strategy for the Department of Defense and support mission-critical solutions using cutting-edge agentic frameworks.

• Experience building production-grade software in Python, Type Script, or Java with APIs and data services (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, REST, Graph
  
  QL, SQL) and software engineering fundamentals (testing, code review, CI/CD).
• Experience developing and deploying AI-enabled applications such as LLMs, RAG, Graph
  
  RAG, agentic workflows, or tool-calling to solve mission problems in industry, government, or national security.
• Experience building secure data foundations on enterprise cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) with governed ingest and file exchange, data catalog and metadata, and data mesh–style data products to enable reuse across teams.
• Experience designing event-driven integrations and workflow automation (asynchronous messaging, job orchestration, audit logging) to move from insight to action.
• Experience implementing MLOps or Dev Sec Ops  practices (CI/CD, containerization, automated testing, model evaluation and monitoring) in constrained or regulated environments.
• Experience partnering with domain SMEs to translate tacit knowledge into explicit playbooks, decision logic, and human-in-the-loop tools.
• Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Science and 5+ years of experience in related fields, or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Science and 2+ years of experience.

• Experience with geospatial or 3D data (point clouds, LiDAR, photogrammetry) or digital twin data models.
• Experience with knowledge-centric data systems (vector databases, knowledge graphs, semantic search) to improve information findability and decision support.
• Experience integrating sensor streams or IoT telemetry and edge-to-cloud data flows (e.g., Kafka, NATS, Rabbit
  
  MQ) for asset monitoring and situational awareness.
• Experience deploying software and data or ML pipelines in disconnected, air-gapped, or classified environments.
• Experience with cross-domain data handling constraints.
• Experience with Kubernetes/Open Shift, cloud-native patterns, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) in DoD or IL environments.
• Experience with RMF or STIG-aligned delivery.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and practices (code copilots, automated tests, secure-by-design patterns) to increase delivery velocity responsibly.
• Experience developing computer vision and multimodal analytics pipelines and integrating outputs into downstream workflows.

Salary is determined by factors including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific requirements, and organizational priorities. The projected compensation range is $77,500 to $176,000 (annualized USD). This posting will close within 90 days from the posting date.
