Job Summary

Vaco is currently seeking a Google Workspace Engineer for a 6M C2H opportunity that is remote. The Google Workspace Engineer will own day‑to‑day incident response and Tier 3 support with a heavy emphasis on Gmail reliability, performance, and complex technical issues.

Responsibilities
  • Gmail / Google Workspace Support – Leading incident response/troubleshooting for complex Gmail issues (mail flow, performance, routing, delivery, inbox behavior, labels, filters, quotas).
  • Email infrastructure/authentication – Diagnosing and resolving issues across mail routing/DNS (MX/SPF/DKIM/DMARC), SMTP relay configurations, user access, authentication (SSO/OAuth/SAML).
  • API/automation – Leveraging Google Workspace Admin SDK/Gmail API (REST) to investigate cross‑domain issues, build automation/scripts, improve monitoring/reporting, and bulk remediation.
  • Automation/scripting – Utilizing Power Shell/Python for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Tier 3 support/escalations – Providing advanced support to internal IT/operations teams for escalated Gmail issues.
  • Root cause analysis/remediation – Performing RCA and implementing permanent fixes for recurring or high‑impact incidents.
  • Security/compliance – Supporting security hardening/configuration reviews/compliance policies/audit logging best practices for Google Workspace.
  • Integration support – Supporting integrations with M365/Exchange Online (mail flow/provisioning between platforms).
  • Documentation/knowledge management – Maintaining/enhancing runbooks, knowledge base articles, operational playbooks.
  • On‑call support – Participating in on‑call rotation for critical incident response.
Requirements
  • Google Workspace Admin SDK – Hands‑on expertise in administrative investigations, domain‑wide settings management, authentication troubleshooting (SSO/OAuth/SAML), bulk operations, security/compliance hardening, audit/log analysis, and configuration reviews.
  • Gmail API/REST API – Hands‑on expertise in programmatic investigation, resolution of complex issues, querying message metadata, analyzing delivery logs, troubleshooting inbox/label/rule behavior, bulk remediation, and building custom monitoring and health‑check scripts.
  • Power Shell – Developing/maintaining scripts to support incident response, user provisioning, mail‑flow diagnostics, bulk updates, and system integrations; driving operational efficiency, scheduled reporting, and post‑incident validation.
  • Python – Leveraging Python to develop cross‑platform automation, integrate with Gmail API/Admin SDK at scale, build custom reporting/monitoring, and create repeatable remediation tools to reduce manual Tier 3 effort.
Compensation

Hourly / Salary: up to $85 W2+ based on experience.
