Job Summary
The Pathology Systems Administrator is responsible for the day‑to‑day administration, support, and lifecycle management of enterprise pathology and laboratory information systems that support diagnostic workflows across the organization. This role partners closely with pathology operations, clinical stakeholders, vendors, and IT infrastructure teams to ensure highly available, secure, and compliant systems that directly enable patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Manage pathology applications, interfaces, and supporting infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, regulatory compliance (CAP, CLIA, HIPAA), and alignment with enterprise IT standards.
- Participate in system upgrades, integrations, migrations, incident resolution, and continuous improvement of pathology technology platforms.
- Collaborate with senior team members, customers, technical engineers, software engineers, architects, and capability managers to capture capability needs and develop business solutions.
- Co‑operate on technology development projects, supporting requirements testing, defect management, and documentation to minimize production defects.
- Ensure compliance with required standards and secure approvals throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate project status, vendor solutions, and documentation to team members, customers, partners, and management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Information Systems or Technology background.
- Lean/Six Sigma experience (preferred).
- Experience in Health Insurance or Healthcare Industry (preferred).
- Basic analytical skills.
- Basic problem‑solving skills.
- Basic communication skills.
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience. - Preferred:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Information Systems, or related field.

Travel Requirement25% - 50%.

Additional InformationPay Range: $58,100.00 - $90,000.00. Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
