Systems Engineer, Network Engineer
The Network Engineering team designs, automates, and supports the global network powering Akamai's products and services, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance for customers and the compute platform.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain the global network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
- Configure BGP and troubleshoot complex peering relationships.
- Implement new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
- Act as the subject‑matter expert and final escalation point for production network issues.
- Create and maintain clear documentation and procedures.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing architecture.
- Strong understanding of data‑center architecture, CLOS fabric, and overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting multi‑vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, BIRD, FRR, Cumulus).
- Deep understanding of end‑to‑end data flows and traffic patterns.
- Highly organized self‑starter comfortable working with cross‑functional teams.

For US‑based candidates only, the base salary ranges from $88,900 to $160,100 per year, with additional incentive compensation, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) available. Compensation for non‑US candidates varies. Detailed eligibility requirements apply.
