Location:
Columbia, SC. Partially onsite on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; onsite as needed. Open to remote work.
Duration: 11+ months. Interviews will be conducted remotely.
Job SummaryResponsibilities include:
- Perform all phases of applications systems analysis and design. Analyze systems specifications and develop applications to support information systems processes. Prepare detailed specifications from which complex programs will be written. Design, code, test, debug, document and maintain these programs. Formulate scope and objectives through research to develop or modify complex systems.
- Ensure team members understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Maintain organizational standards and deliver applications on time and within budget. Provide expert system knowledge, perform research, attend meetings, and review documents.
- Maintain and modify programs according to specifications. Code, compile, and implement application software delivered on time and within budget. Evaluate the impact of changes on related areas.
- Test modified programs, create necessary test files and data, verify logic, debug, and write relevant documentation.
- Analyze production systems, recommend enhancements, provide instruction to production support team, research customer issues and determine appropriate resolutions. Coordinate implementation of modifications or enhancements.
- Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems. Develop functional design and technical specifications, concept diagrams, workflow diagrams, and related procedures to process data using appropriate systems environment/platform. Document programs and procedures.
This developer will primarily be focused on recoding the My Insurance Manager provider website. This is a multi-year effort that involves daily design calls, coding, and typical agile ceremonies.
TeamCommercial Web Team – two team leads, one manager, one system designer, one analyst, and seven or so developers. Team members support each other and enjoy each other's company.

Job Requirements RequiredSkills and Abilities
Strong understanding of applications/development, quality assurance and integration methodologies, concepts and facilities in a mainframe, midrange, and/or PC/LAN environment. Strong analysis, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates logical abstract thinking and assimilating/adhering to project goals and deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Works well under pressure and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills/team building. Familiar with project management concepts.
Pays attention to detail. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors, etc.
Strong knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and development tools and their usage within the company.
Required Work Experience4 years of application development, systems testing, or other job-related experience.
EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree.
Degree Equivalency4 years of job-related work experience or 2 years of job-related experience plus an associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree.
