Data Analytics Developer

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, passionate about using big data to answer research questions that influence U.S. health‑care policy, and proficient in Python and SQL. We encourage individuals who are eager to work with large, complex data sets, manipulate and analyze data, and become subject‑matter experts in health‑care data.

Responsibilities
  • Work with large secondary data sources such as Medicare and Medicaid administrative claims data and survey data to answer research questions about health‑care policy.
  • Create and provide best‑practice solutions for data‑processing optimization, commonly on cloud‑computing platforms.
  • Ensure data quality through all stages of data processing with rigorous quality control.
  • Iteratively inform requirements and specifications, articulating findings and working with researchers to adjust specifications and code as interim results are discovered.
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record in computer science, economics, mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, public health, public administration, public policy, sociology, political science, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of programming experience in a professional or academic environment.
  • Programming experience using Python, SQL, SAS, R, Stata, or a similar data‑engineering or statistical language.
  • Experience performing data pipelining or analytics using cloud computing platforms and services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and/or Databricks is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to a non‑technical audience.
  • Subject‑matter knowledge in health‑care data is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation or security clearance for federally contracted project work; holding an active Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Enterprise User Administration (EUA)  desired.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $78,000 to $100,000, and may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, age, national origin, religion, orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, or basis of disability or any other federal, state, or local protected class.

Any offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Various federal agencies with whom we contract require staff to successfully undergo security clearance as a condition of working on the project.
