Deskside Technician II Job Purpose and Summary

The IT Site Administrator (Deskside Technician II) is responsible for supporting local users and operating and maintaining the local IT infrastructure.

  • Provide 1st and partial 2nd level local user support
  • Plan, install, and configure local IT infrastructure
  • Operate and maintain local IT infrastructure
  • Coordinate local IT activities with central IT functions
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • On‑site and remote user support experience
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of devices (PCs, printers, etc.)
  • Support and troubleshoot equipment and peripherals (HDDs, mice, keyboards, printers, etc.)
  • Installation, configuration, and diagnosis of office applications (MS Office, Adobe, Autodesk, IE, RDS, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting and resolving problems (repair/replace parts, debugging, etc.)
  • Support of Windows networks (Active Directory, users, profiles, file permissions)
  • Basic knowledge of networking (cabling, connectivity, networking)
  • Basic knowledge of virtualization (VMware)
  • Basic knowledge of Client/Server environments (Citrix terminal server)
  • Documentation and capacity management
  • Proven experience as an IT Technician or similar role
  • Management of local IT inventory (hardware inventory, software licenses)
Working Environment

The primary location involves supporting plants. The technician will travel quarterly to remote sites for in‑person support, while remote support is provided for other locations and employees working from home.

Minimum Requirements

Technical education in Information Technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and General Abilities

Computer literacy with advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database creation/management, and ERP systems.

Excellent oral and written communication.

Highly organized, self‑motivated, able to work independently and as a team member.

Cognitive Abilities

Strategic thinking and action.

Out‑of‑the‑box thinking.

Process‑oriented mentality.

Ability to concentrate for extended periods.

Physical Requirements

Lifting up to 20 pounds on occasion.

Respond quickly to sounds.

Respond to dangerous situations safely.

Climb ladders safely.

Wear personal protective gear correctly.
