Systems Engineer II

Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces a vacancy for the Systems Engineer II classification in the Department of Information Technology. The position may remain open on an eligibility list for up to one year.

• Under general supervision, provisions, installs, configures, operates and maintains compute and storage environments, software and related infrastructure.

• Server automation and scripting.
• Power Shell, .Net, or other Dev Ops experience.
• Azure, Microsoft 365, Linux experience.
• Systems engineering including the maintenance of computer and storage systems.
• Managing the configuration of servers.

• Competitive salary range for Systems Engineer II: $80,075.32 – $ annually.
• Salary placement for non‑represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate’s qualifications as well as internal equity.

• Employees must reside in Nevada and be able to report to an on‑site location promptly if required.
• Expected schedule:
  Monday – Thursday, standard day‑shift hours determined by supervisor (4‑day work week).

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in systems engineering involving the maintenance of compute and storage systems.
• Equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
• Must pass a nationwide fingerprint‑based record check and warrants check.
• Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire, and maintain it every two years.
• Must obtain and maintain one of the following certifications within one (1) year from appointment as a condition of continued employment:
  • Windows/Linux Identity and Access Management Services.
  • Windows/Linux Operating Systems Services.
  • Email Services.
  • Compute or Storage Services.
  • Cloud Services.
  • Data Protection/Disaster Recovery Services.
  • Security Services.
