Our Manager of Quality Engineering is responsible for advancing the maturity, scalability, and effectiveness of the enterprise Quality Engineering (QE) function across cloud and on-prem platforms. This Manager is responsible for QE governance, test automation, performance engineering, and test data management. They are accountable for defining and executing a product‑centric, outcome‑driven quality strategy and establishing best‑in‑class QE standards, tools, and practices, while executing enterprise‑wide strategies for automation, performance, and data quality.

This Manager is accountable for implementing transparent metrics, fostering accountability, and enabling faster delivery with reduced risk across multiple product teams.

$130,000 ~ $160,000. The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job‑related knowledge, skills, experience and may fall outside of this range.

Our first consideration will be to have this employee live in the state of Wisconsin to take advantage of hybrid work and collaboration. Employees within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI, 53713) will be expected to be able to work in office 3 days a week on a regular basis.

• Can define and execute the enterprise QE roadmap: governance, automation coverage, performance SLAs, test data strategy, environment parity.
• Have developed and maintained QE policies, standards, and guardrails integrated into CI/CD.
• Can manage product budget and resource allocation to meet financial targets and maximize ROI.
• Enjoy evaluating, negotiating, and managing QE tooling and services, lead RFPs with Procurement and Legal.
• Want to lead the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in an enterprise wide Quality and Software Engineering program.
• Want to own test automation architecture (UI, API, service, data) and integrate with ADO/Git pipelines.
• Can drive shift‑left quality and establish scalable frameworks with reliable reporting.
• Like ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, data privacy, and security requirements in all product decisions.
• Have ensured QE practices include ongoing monitoring of application performance, validating that systems meet defined quality thresholds, SLAs, and reliability standards.
• Want to maintain audit‑ready compliance by enforcing consistent quality controls, documenting test evidence, and aligning QE processes with regulatory and security requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Administration, Software Engineering or related field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 7 or more years of progressive experience in Quality Engineering / Software Development life cycles.
• 3 or more years in a Managerial or Senior Level role.
• Deep understanding of quality engineering disciplines, governance, and modern software development practices with the ability to integrate automated testing and quality controls into CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies, backlog management tools (Jira, Azure Dev Ops), and iterative delivery practices including sprint cycles and PI Planning.
• Expertise in agile product management, scaled agile frameworks, or hybrid delivery models.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams and complex organizations.
