Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,492 to $9,458 per month
This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position. Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Remote work may be considered one day per week per university guidelines.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision plans, membership in CalPERS, sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Eligible employees can participate in the fee waiver education program.
Job SummaryWorking independently under general supervision, the Data Analytics Developer designs, implements, and maintains complex on-premise and cloud-based database solutions that support the university’s Institutional Effectiveness enterprise reporting, analytics, regulatory compliance functions, and Academic Affairs integration initiatives. The position applies advanced technical expertise in database architecture, Microsoft Azure, AWS cloud environments, automation, performance optimization, security, and systems integration to support mission‑critical campus‑wide systems.
The incumbent exercises advanced judgment in determining appropriate database design, cloud architecture, automation frameworks, and customization decisions. Work involves planning, developing, and supporting moderately to highly complex database environments with significant institutional impact.
- Knowledge of strong expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, including designing, deploying, and managing scalable data solutions using services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.
- Knowledge of advanced proficiency in SQL (T‑SQL, PL/SQL) for complex data extraction, transformation, and analysis to support institutional reporting and decision‑making.
- Hands‑on experience with Databricks for building and optimizing data pipelines, developing workflows, and enabling large‑scale data processing and analytics.
- Demonstrated communication skills to gather information, draft documentation, and communicate technical issues effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive data and information.
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, cloud computing, or related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible database administration experience, including cloud‑based database management (Azure and/or AWS preferred).
- Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
