Job Summary
The Senior ArcGIS Coordinator & Application Developer advises and guides a technical team to create solutions within the ESRI ArcGIS platform. The role combines application development with geospatial analysis and requires expertise in ArcGIS, Python, database design, and Microsoft technologies.
CompensationMonthly Salary Range: $6,182 - $9,361 before PERS*; $6,609 - $10,009 after PERS*.
LocationNorth Mall Office Building, 725 Summer St. NE Suite A, Salem, OR 97301.
Hybrid/Remote Work: Hybrid schedule to be agreed with manager.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, upgrade, and maintain complex geo‑spatial applications, mobile applications, and data‑manipulation code/scripts within the ArcGIS platform using scripting and .NET technologies.
- Identify data and service gaps in the existing ArcGIS product and build extensions using the ArcGIS API and external databases to meet project requirements.
- Build and maintain data synchronization (ETL) processes between multiple database servers to support internal application development efforts that rely on ArcGIS data.
- Five (5) years of information systems experience (specifically in GIS development or coordination).
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Geography (with GIS focus) or a related field, and three (3) years of information systems experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Geography (GIS focus) or a related field and one (1) year of information systems experience.
- Professional experience working with ESRI’s ArcGIS Platform (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online).
- Proven experience in GIS application development using programming or scripting languages (Python, JavaScript).
- Advanced Technical Expertise
- 5+ years of advanced experience with ArcGIS Enterprise administration, including services, security, and enterprise geodatabase (SDE) management using SQL Server or Postgre
SQL. - Extensive experience with Python (Arc Py, ArcGIS API for Python) for automation and ETL workflows.
- Proficiency in front‑end development using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, React, or Arcade.
- 5+ years of advanced experience with ArcGIS Enterprise administration, including services, security, and enterprise geodatabase (SDE) management using SQL Server or Postgre
- Team and Project Coordination
- Experience coordinating complex GIS projects across multiple agencies or departments, including requirements gathering and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated ability to advise technical teams or provide mentorship to junior GIS staff.
- Certifications & Industry Knowledge
- GISP (GIS Professional) or Esri Technical Certifications (Enterprise Administration or Developer Associate).
- Experience with Cloud Infrastructure.
- High volume of quality work within tight time frames with minimal supervision.
- Requires concentration in an open office environment with frequent interruptions.
- Manages multiple competing priorities.
- May require irregular work hours, including night and/or weekend work.
- Requires frequent extended periods of desktop or laptop use.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Requires conflict resolution skills.
- Requires constant use of computer input/output devices.
- Occasional light lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional travel around the state using a state vehicle.
