Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Systems Engineer II in the Department of Information Technology. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, effectively and efficiently provisions, installs, configures, operates, and maintains compute and storage environments, software and related infrastructure, and performs related duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Skills

Successful candidate will possess experience with the following:

Server automation and scripting
Power Shell, .Net, or other Dev Ops experience
Azure, Microsoft 365, Linux experience
Systems engineering including the maintenance of computer and storage systems
Managing the configuration of servers

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in information technology, computer science, or a related field
Five (5) years of experience in systems engineering which involved the maintenance of compute and storage systems
Equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
Must complete Security Awareness and NCIC/NJCIS certification within six months of hire and be recertified every two years, must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
Must obtain and maintain one of the following certifications within one (1) year from date of appointment as a condition of continued employment:
- Windows/Linux Identity and Access Management Services
- Windows/Linux Operating Systems Services
- Email Services
- Compute or Storage Services
- Cloud Services
- Data Protection/Disaster Recovery Services
- Security Services

Salary and Benefits

Competitive Salary Range for Systems Engineer II $80,075.32 - $ annually
Salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity
Salary placement for non-represented positions is contingent upon the City’s financial performance and subject to available funding as determined by the City
Work-Life Balance:
The City of Henderson requires employees to reside in the state of Nevada, with the capability of reporting to an on-site location timely, if required
Expected schedule for this position is Monday – Thursday, standard day shift hours will be determined by supervisor (4 day work week)
Work schedules and remote work opportunities are subject to change
Remote work option only available for incumbents who have completed their probation or qualifying period
