Senior Power BI Engineer – Analysis Services
A Senior Power BI Engineer for Analysis Services focuses on building and maintaining the infrastructure necessary for data collection, storage, and processing. They design and develop Power BI Business Intelligence applications, reports, and dashboards, provide expertise and support in reporting systems, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Synapse Workspace Analytics, Power BI, and data access, and work with other teams to ensure solutions meet business needs.
SemanticModeling & Analysis Services (AAS)
- Develop tabular and multidimensional models
- Develop and manage AAS processes
- Write complex queries to retrieve large data sets from databases
- Analyze and troubleshoot data warehouse and reporting system issues
- Develop visual reports and dashboards with filters, drill‑down, and other interactive capabilities
- Create Power BI visualizations that enable end‑user insight
- Design, develop, and test operational, strategic, and federally mandated reports for internal and external stakeholders, CMS, and steering committees using Azure SQL, Power BI, and AAS
- Develop clear analytical plans and build large datasets (HPF, Medicaid, and other external data)
- Convert data into actionable insights that inform business decisions
- Integrate data from on‑premises and cloud sources
- Automate data refreshes on a scheduled basis
- Design and maintain reliable data processing workflows that scale with user demand
- Optimize data architectures for performance and scalability
- Implement and maintain security measures, including role‑based access control and data encryption
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and practices within the team
- Govern system and data integrity and manage report quality
- Analyze and troubleshoot data issues, provide detailed analysis, and propose effective solutions
- Provide Power BI and AAS user support for connectivity, access, and control
- Provide training on Power BI datasets and cubes
- Answer technical and procedural questions, facilitate development and training of improved processes
- Create and maintain technical documentation for development and operations
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve Power BI or AAS issues, develop ETL scripts, and design scalable data warehouse architectures across cloud environments
- Other duties as assigned
- 5+ years with advanced Azure Analysis Services and Power BI, advanced SQL
- 3+ years experience working with Azure Data Warehouse
- 3+ years mentoring experience
- Experience with data warehouse requirements and design
- Advanced knowledge of data mining large database systems and technical documentation
- Well organized, flexible, proactive, resourceful, efficient with strong attention to detail
- Motivated self‑starter with initiative to take independent action and accept responsibility
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with all levels of internal management and staff, outside clients, vendors, diverse populations, stakeholder groups, and customers
Full salary range: $89,855.00 to $ annually, with midpoint at $. Hiring range: $ to $ annually.

Working ConditionsCore business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Irregular hours may be required preferred duty station is Olympia, Washington headquarters, but a hybrid remote and on‑site schedule may be considered. Limited travel may be required for meetings or trainings. Responsibilities require use of standard office furniture and equipment, including remote work setup.
