Job OverviewAmazon Corporate Network Engineering owns the design, planning, and delivery of all Amazon corporate office network infrastructure. You will help keep Amazon offices connected, drive the stability and sustainability of next‑generation IP networks, and collaborate with software, hardware, security, and operations experts to deliver safety, security, and cost‑effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform high‑quality network and system operations, deployments, scaling, and technology refresh.
- Design and build innovative, multi‑vendor data connectivity solutions to support Amazon’s global growth.
- Drive scaling of current network designs to meet customer demand.
- Collaborate with vendors and cross‑functional teams on ongoing design efforts and systems support.
- Work closely with internal customers to address their networking needs and ensure continued service quality.
- Lead operational excellence projects to improve network quality and reliability.
- Assist in defining the tools required for network operations.
- Create simple processes that support network build and operation.
- Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation for critical events.
- Manage customer interactions during problem resolution while maintaining efficient operations under pressure.
Engineers partner with internal stakeholders to develop next‑generation platforms and tooling ecosystems. Responsibilities include building scalable solutions, providing visibility and control across the network, and automating builds, configuration deployments, and capacity scaling.
About the TeamThe Corporate Network Engineering team designs corporate office networks and edge networks that connect 500+ remote offices to the enterprise core and AWS cloud. We own network standards, deployment mechanisms, automation, and large program delivery, including AWS VPC Transit Gateway‑based networks.
Basic Qualifications- 4+ years of major internet routing protocol experience.
- 4+ years of experience in Linux/Unix environments.
- 4+ years of hands‑on technical engineering experience in large‑scale data center and/or WAN network environments.
- 4+ years of experience with at least one vendor’s wireless hardware (Access Points, Wireless Controllers, or client bridges) and IEEE 802.11 standards (.11n, .11ac, .11ax).
- 1+ year of automation experience via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming.
- 1+ year of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl.
- Knowledge of wireless security (802.1X, RADIUS, WPA2, EAP‑TLS, PSK, general PKI concepts).
- Knowledge of RF survey, RF planning, and optimization.
- Experience with 3G/4G/WiMax a plus.
- Aruba ACDX or CCIE Wireless a plus.
