REMOTE Jr. Security Engineer

Job Description

Client is seeking a US-based, junior-level security engineer with a generalist skill set in application and cloud security, strong coding abilities (especially Python), and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.

• Generalist Focus:
  Security generalist with experience in application and cloud infrastructure security (not traditional IT security).
• Experience:
  
  Preferably 2–5 years at a SaaS product company, with hands‑on engineering or security background.
  • Example:
    Someone who has been “hands on keyboard” and can troubleshoot technical issues independently.
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  • Coding:
    Strong Python skills required;
    Type Script/JavaScript familiarity is a plus.
  • Cloud: AWS experience preferred, but Azure or GCP acceptable if fundamentals are strong.
  • Infrastructure as Code:
    Familiarity with Terraform or similar tools.
  • Networking:
    Solid understanding of networking concepts in the context of cloud security.
  • Security Standards:
    Awareness of CVE system, OWASP Top 10, and AI security risks.
  • Learning Mindset:
    Willingness to learn new tools and concepts, use AI assistants, and adapt quickly. Ideal:
    Junior engineer with 3 years’ experience at a SaaS company, strong Python skills, AWS/Terraform familiarity, and a track record of taking ownership of security issues.
