Hardware Engineer, Technical Support
Since Roon's initial release in 2015, our device ecosystem has grown and Roon now interoperates with a large variety of hardware and software products, including USB and Networked DACs, streamers, speakers, NAS's, mobile devices, computers, and appliances. Our Roon Ready certification process was developed to ensure that all certified devices guarantee the best experience possible for our users.
Responsibilities- Manage incoming and outgoing shipments of hardware, facilitate Customs clearance for incoming international shipments.
- Manage the inventory of partner devices submitted for certification.
- Ensure the devices received are ready for testing; keep track of and update device firmware, queue physical hardware, and prepare required system setup processes.
- Assist with the execution of the Roon Ready certification protocol; conduct hands‑on testing of partner devices to ensure compliance with our Certification Program's technical requirements.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to identify and address any issues that arise during the certification process.
- Report any issues found during testing to the partner management team.
- Assist as a member of a testing team with potential solutions to test failures.
- Support product development teams with engineering processes and hardware testing on case‑by‑case scenarios.
- Aid Customer Support team members with user issues relating to Partner hardware and its relation to the Roon app.
- High School Diploma.
- 1+ years of experience in certification testing, systems integration, QA or Engineering departments, preferably in consumer electronics.
- Strong understanding of software and hardware testing methodologies.
- Firm grasp on networking and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Undergraduate Degree in a related field.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn about audio engineering practices, digital signal processing, analog and digital audio interfaces, audio codecs, audio drivers, and audio protocols.
- Passion for audio gear and ensuring the highest quality standards in technology products.
- Willing to travel up to 10% domestic and international travel as needed.
- Willing and able to work at our Richardson, TX office location (5 days a week).
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment (post‑offer).

Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.
