Data Engineer (Production Support) - Overnights/weekends
There will be a need for off‑hours and weekend support. The ask overall is to check in at 8 pm, midnight, 4 am and address any issues. Additional day‑time checks on Saturday and Sunday. I’m working on figuring out a schedule; if the candidate has done this before they can help. We are looking for folks willing to work a few overnights a week and at least a weekend day.
TheOpportunity
We are seeking a software engineer or ETL / data integration / big‑data developer to join our production support team. This person will be responsible for supporting the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of data to end consumers. This role requires off‑hours and weekend support (schedule TBD). The candidate will also perform analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues reported by end users.
Responsibilities- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end‑to‑end problem resolution.
- Resolve problems by identifying bugs and performing root‑cause analysis; collaborate with internal development and operations teams to raise/escalate issues.
- Monitor production activities/processes to ensure timely and effective reporting, tracking, follow‑up, and communication for related incidents.
- Identify process improvement opportunities.
- Develop scalable and reliable data solutions to move data across systems from multiple sources in real time and in batch modes.
- Design and develop database objects, tables, stored procedures, views, etc.
- Design and develop ETL processes that transform raw data, flat files, Excel spreadsheets into SQL databases.
- Create/update/maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Show aptitude to learn new technologies and perform continuous research, analysis, and process improvement.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with customers, contractors, end users, and management.
- Programming languages, frameworks, and file formats such as Python, SQL, PL/SQL, and VB.
- Database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL.
- Big‑data concepts and technologies, e.g., Azure Synapse and Databricks.
- Experience with SAP Business Objects, Cisco Tidal scheduler, and SAP ABAP programming is a plus.
