Senior Systems Administrator
GMi is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator who can own and operate the full technology environment for a complex, multi‑site organization. This is a domain ownership role, not only an execution role. You will design, build, deploy, maintain, and support the network, security, and end‑user technology stack that keeps 350+ computer users productive – 175 of them knowledge workers – while ensuring the right support systems are in place for our broader 1,800‑person workforce.

- Design, build, deploy, maintain, and support the entire network and infrastructure including LAN/WAN, switching, routing, firewall management, VPN, and wireless across headquarters and remote offices.
- Own and continuously improve the security posture: firewall policy, endpoint protection, MFA enforcement, access control, and compliance with company standards.
- Manage the full device lifecycle – procurement, imaging, deployment, management, and retirement – and establish standards for configuration and management.
- Oversee end‑user technology platforms such as Microsoft 365, identity & access management, VoIP, and collaboration systems.
- Lead the Help Desk function, set support standards, and personally handle L2/L3 escalations for the 1,800‑employee workforce.
- Manage third‑party and vendor relationships for telecom, hardware, and services.
- Create and maintain thorough, current documentation of the technology environment.
- Ownership mindset – proactive monitoring, assessment, and resolution ownership.
- Clear communication – explain technical issues to non‑technical executives and write concise change‑management plans.
- Judgment and prioritization – assess urgency vs importance in a complex environment.
- Planning and follow‑through – organized, realistic schedules and consistent execution.
- Reliability – dependable technology uptime.
- Collaboration – cross‑department support without gatekeeping.
- Documentation discipline – proactive, detailed, and findable runbooks and procedures.
- 5+ years of progressive IT experience in a comparable size and complexity environment, with infrastructure ownership experience.
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Entra / Azure AD, Intune).
- Windows Server environments:
Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services. - Network infrastructure: LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, firewall management (Fortinet, Palo Alto, or equivalent).
- Remote monitoring and management (RMM) platforms.
- Mobile device management (MDM):
Intune or equivalent. - Multi‑factor authentication (MFA) and identity governance.
- VoIP telephony systems administration.
- Endpoint security and patching.
- Backup and disaster recovery design and operation.
- Virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V, or equivalent).
- SQL Server fundamentals for basic administration and troubleshooting.
This is a fully on‑site role based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with regular travel to Austin, Houston, and field job sites. The role involves moderate physical activity, including handling equipment up to 25 pounds and working in varied site conditions.
