Technical Project Manager

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Technical Project Manager (Data) for our client, a nonprofit organization dedicated to harnessing the power of data for social good! This is a 100% remote contract position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute technical roadmaps aligned with organizational goals and product strategy
• Own end-to-end delivery of complex projects, balancing feature development, technical debt, and platform stability
• Manage multiple work streams, prioritize effectively, and facilitate agile practices suited to the team
• Review technical designs, troubleshoot blockers, and mitigate risks related to dependencies and scalability
• Define requirements, ensure quality standards, and embed security, privacy, and accessibility (FERPA, WCAG) from project inception
• Maintain clear, proactive communication with leadership, partners, and stakeholders, translating technical details appropriately
• Develop documentation, track success metrics, and continuously improve project processes

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years managing software and data engineering projects, with a proven history of delivering complex initiatives end-to-end
• Strong technical fluency: ability to review architectural designs, participate in technical discussions, and troubleshoot technical issues
• 3+ years working directly with engineering teams utilizing modern SDLC practices (CI/CD, Git, microservices, APIs)
• Experience managing data engineering, ETL/ELT pipelines, analytics platforms, or data-intensive applications
• Background in edtech or experience working in nonprofit, social impact, or mission-driven organizations a plus
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations (FERPA, GDPR), security standards (SOC2), and accessibility guidelines (WCAG) preferred
