Senior Developer

As a Senior Developer, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Rural King's enterprise order management capabilities using IBM Sterling Order Management on Cloud (OMoC) v10.xx. This role brings together your deep technical expertise and hands‑on experience in configuration and development, ensuring that our order management functions are not only scalable but also efficient and reliable across our omni‑channel retail ecosystem.

You will work closely with the Project Management team to synchronize technical execution with project timelines, while also collaborating with vendor teams to uphold best practices, performance standards, and our architectural principles.

  • Design, configure, and enhance solutions within IBM Sterling OMS on Cloud (OMoC) v10.xx, focusing on order orchestration, fulfillment, and inventory management.
  • Develop and customize components within OMS to meet business and integration needs effectively.
  • Utilize Self Service capabilities for deployment, application monitoring, queue management, and optimizing performance.
  • Manage and configure environments using Sterling Application Manager (SMA) for deployment and configuration.
  • Leverage tools such as Sterling Business Center (SBC), Order Hub, Sterling Store, and Sterling Call Center for troubleshooting and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with integration teams using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and other middleware platforms to ensure smooth communication between OMS, e‑commerce, and ERP systems.
  • Review vendor‑delivered code and documentation to ensure compliance with our technical and security standards.
  • Work alongside Project Management to align development tasks with sprint cycles and release schedules.
  • Support troubleshooting and defect resolution across various environments.
  • Maintain thorough documentation on source code, configurations, and release processes, ensuring traceability.
  • Engage in technical design discussions, contributing insights on system architecture and performance optimization.
  • Mentor vendors and partner developers, advocating for best practices in OMS customization.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions while upholding confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Participate in ongoing learning initiatives such as training programs and workshops, to stay updated on industry developments.
  • Provide friendly, proactive, and professional support to both internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries and issues effectively.

Essential Qualities for Success
  • 5‑7 years of hands‑on experience with IBM Sterling Order Management on Cloud (OMoC) v10.xx.
  • Proficient in using Self Service tools for deployment, queue management, and system monitoring.
  • Strong background in Sterling Application Manager (SMA) for environment and configuration management.
  • Experience with Sterling Business Center (SBC), Sterling Store, Sterling Call Center, and Order Hub.
  • Comprehensive understanding of order orchestration, inventory visibility, and fulfillment flows in omni‑channel retail.
  • Knowledge of code management, release coordination, and CI/CD processes in cloud environments.
  • Ability to design and customize OMS services and extensions to meet complex business logic.
  • Experience integrating OMS with e‑commerce and ERP using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or similar tools.
  • Proven collaboration skills with internal teams and vendor developers.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities, with an eye for detail in system performance.
  • Effective communicator with the skill to present technical details clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen actively and respond thoughtfully.
