Role OverviewProduct Designer – Database Observability (remote, United States and Canada, EST time zone).
Responsibilities- Design and iterate on the Database Observability (DBO
11y) product, enabling developers and database administrators to surface, troubleshoot, and optimize latency problems and slow queries. - Collect and analyze customer/user feedback, conduct user interviews, observe behavior with product analytics tools, and identify opportunities for improvement throughout the product lifecycle (Private Preview → GA).
- Collaborate with product management, technical writing, engineering, and other designers to evolve features, refine troubleshooting workflows, and tightly integrate DBO
11y into the broader Grafana Cloud suite. - Develop new patterns and components while maintaining visual and stylistic consistency across the Grafana ecosystem.
- Facilitate design critiques and contribute to the evolution of team processes, learning, and culture.
- Experience designing for highly technical users such as developers and database administrators.
- Portfolio of successful designs for complex products delivered in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to translate business priorities, research insights, and technical constraints into practical, scalable design solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a distributed, remote setting.
- Self‑directed, growth‑mindset, and keen on transparency and continuous improvement.
- Bonus: Experience with product analytics instrumentation, user interview planning, and data‑driven decision making.
- Bonus: Rapid understanding of technical domains and user workflows, and the ability to create effective patterns while preserving consistency.
Base salary for U.S. applicants: $123,933 – $154,915 (varies by level, experience, and skill set). All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Global PTO: 30 days per year, with 3 days reserved for Grafana Shutdown Days.
