Mainframe Candidate (IBM zOS)

CVS

Location:
Hartford, CT Ideally BUT would consider REMOTE

Rate: $65-67/hr C2C

USC, GC or GC EAD only (contract to hire)

We have had candidates BOMB this interview really bad. The manager will be taking a VERY deep dive one on the resume. These skill sets are tough to find but if you find someone who has GAINED experience with any of the below (and are missing one thing) please share them! If you find someone a little over the rate who is awesome, please put him across my desk.

The need is for a right-to-hire development resource with hands on IBM zOS Connect development experience supplemented by mainframe experience with COBOL/CICS and Endevor CAM experience
. Of less importance would be MQ experience.

This can be a work-from-home resource within the East time zone or onsite in Hartford, CT. The workday is 8-4 or 9-5, etc but with the ability to occasionally work an overnight shift for production deployments. This individual would be part of a 4 person delivery team that works with various project teams to develop zOS Connect platform integration components.

INTERVIEW FEEDBACK

When I saw how loaded the resumes were with the technical experience buzzwords, I wondered how the candidates could be exposed to so much variety in just a few years. It would have to be a very unique set of circumstances to accumulate such a vast array of experience.

After our discussions, I can conclude that the candidates either very poor communicators with an equally poor memory or they accidentally put their name on someone else's resume. None of their responses indicate to myself or to my team that they actually had hands on experience with what they wrote on the resume. Repeated requests for a description of their hands on experience met with either blank stares, long delays with eyes shifting left to read something, or a run on monologue about some unrelated topic.

I have to conclude that these first two folks did not go through any preliminary technical screening to validate their resumes. Hopefully things improve.

On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the worst, I evaluate both Leela and Naveen to be 1's for our staffing need.
