Position: Principal Enterprise Architect (Remote)

* ** PURPOSE** :

We are seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to lead architecture, strategy and execution across our Federal Employee and Government, AI and Automation, and other Blue Cross Blue Shield Association programs. This role will shape the future of a modern, AI-first health plan platform, integrating core claims systems (e.g., Tri Zetto Facets), FHIR-based interoperability, and automation at scale.

This is a high-impact leadership role operating at the intersection of business strategy, product innovation, and technology transformation, with direct influence on growth initiatives, platform modernization, and corporate development (e.g., partnerships, platform expansion).  You will possess a broad understanding of the enterprise, the business, current capabilities and future needs, business initiatives and healthcare/technology industry trends; support business strategy and enterprise architecture development, by providing counsel, monitoring industry trends to and ensure business objectives are met.

* ** Enterprise Architecture Leadership*
* + Define and evolve the target-state enterprise architecture aligned to an AI-first payer strategy.

+ Develop multi-year architecture roadmaps.

+ Establish architecture standards, reference architectures, and governance models.

+ Lead architecture reviews across product lines, value streams, and federal program requirement.

** Federal Employee/Government Programs & Regulatory Alignment*
* + Architect solutions that meet FEHB, OPM, and CMS interoperability mandates.

+ Translate regulatory requirements into scalable, reusable platform capabilities.

** Core Claims Platform Strategy (Facets & Ecosystem)*
* + Collaborate in architectural strategy for cloud native claims processing platforms (e.g., Tri Zetto Facets).

+ Drive modernization patterns including:
Optimize for performance, configurability, and multi-line-of-business scalability.

** AI-Driven Automation & Digital Workforce*
* + Architect and scale AI-enabled and Agentic capabilities.

+ Enable reference architecture for AI/LLM platforms.

+ Partner with product and operations to identify high-value automation opportunities.

** Corporate Development & Growth Enablement*
* + Support M&A, partnerships, and platform commercialization efforts.

+ Contribute to platform-as-a-service (PaaS) strategy for external clients.

+ Identify opportunities to productize internal capabilities.

** Governance, Operating Model & Collaboration*
* + Drive decisions and participate in enterprise architecture governance forums.

+ Mentor architects and engineers; promote delivery team operating models.

+ Provides leadership and mentoring across teams to drive continuous improvement of the enterprise architecture practice, including the definition and application of frameworks, methods, processes, patterns, and tools.

** Strategy Development*
* + Provide thought leadership in the development and execution of enterprise and domain-specific IT strategies, standards, and guidelines. Engage in business strategy development to identify new business capability and technology-driven opportunities and ensure alignment and prioritization of IT strategy. Define business and operating models to exploit new opportunities and realize strategic goals and objectives. Support due diligence on merger, acquisition, strategic partnership, and investment activities of the enterprise.

** Architecture Practice Development*
* + Lead the development, tailoring, and enhancement of enterprise architecture frameworks, methods, and tools. Ensure the alignment and integration of enterprise architecture processes and deliverables with those of other architecture and SDLC disciplines. Lead the development of enterprise architecture communications and education materiel for use with business and technical stakeholders or partners.  Prepares and publishes formal architecture documents, produces architecture development plans and reports, and presents staff actions to customers (e.g., white papers, briefings).

** Architecture Development*
* + Provide oversight for development, review, approve, and maintain enterprise architecture blueprints and roadmaps. Analyze pain points and opportunities that transcend business areas and propose enterprise strategies or solutions. Provide oversight and ensure the quality of reusable architecture patterns and reference models. Ensure alignment across architecture and business domains and traceability to business and IT strategy.

** Architecture Governance*
* + Represent Enterprise Architecture and provide thought leadership in solution architecture peer reviews and architecture governance forums. Ensure that IT portfolio decisions provide business value and optimize total cost of ownership. Lead operations of the Architecture Review Board.
