Data Engineer, Database Administrator
Job Description
This is a full‑time, technically oriented professional exempt position at ELLKAY. A Technical Manager in this position will be responsible for coordinating with on‑shore and off‑shore teams to ensure alignment of project goals and specifications. In addition, the Technical Manager should be proficient in performing data analysis, data cleansing, and problem‑solving tasks essential for data migration projects and ensure successful and on‑time project delivery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Technical Proficiency
- Extract data from client systems and restore databases as required.
- Identify and interpret data elements across various database platforms at the request of clients.
- Manage diverse database management systems including SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and Postgres.
- Demonstrate advanced SQL skills to construct and interpret intricate queries.
- Problem Solving
- Identify and resolve data‑related issues and inconsistencies.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex data challenges.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and implement data requirements.
- Data Analysis
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets to support business decision‑making.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes and workflows.
- Data Cleansing and Transformation
- Clean, preprocess, and transform raw data into structured formats suitable for analysis.
- Perform thorough data analysis and execute transformations to align data with business standards.
- Schema and Data Mapping
- Design and maintain data schemas to support various business applications.
- Map data from multiple sources to ensure seamless integration and compatibility.
- Collaborate closely with client Subject Matter Experts to grasp business objectives and requirements effectively.
- Actively contribute to knowledge management initiatives, advocating for best practices in project execution.
- Team Management
- Provide guidance and resources to offshore technical teams for seamless task execution.
- Project Management
- Coordinate with IT teams, data analysts, and business units to ensure alignment on project goals and specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain transparent and proactive communication with stakeholders, offering timely updates on project status, issues, and resolutions.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain an organized repository of project documentation and data assets.
- Ensure all data engineering activities are well‑documented and comply with company policies and industry standards.
- Adaptability
- Demonstrate flexibility in managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Embrace new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance data engineering capabilities.
- A minimum 3 years of professional experience as SQL Developer or Data Engineer with strong query writing skills.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in information technology.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent degree or strong industry experience.
- Excellent SQL skills, with experience in building and interpreting complex queries (preferred).
- Proficient with SQL Server or experience with other similar RDBMS like Oracle, MySQL, Postgres.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience managing technical resources.
- Knowledge of Healthcare Domain and different healthcare terminology standards.
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as C‑CDA, HL7, and healthcare billing data standards like 835, 837, CMS
1500, UB04. - Programming experience in any object‑oriented programming languages like C#, Java.
- Understanding and experience of cloud‑based databases such as Snowflake is a plus.

This is a full‑time position for our HQ located in Elmwood Park, NJ. Remote work may be available within the US.
