Technical Writer, IT Consultant
Job Description
Why work from home, when you can work from the beach?
Come work with Quantum ERP Solutions in Laguna Beach, CA. This is a great opportunity to start your career in the ERP consulting industry.
We're an Epicor Kinetic Certified Partner helping manufacturers and distributors implement, optimize, and get real value out of their ERP systems across Epicor Kinetic, Net Suite, and Zoho. Our work ranges from full implementations to custom modules and deep functional support. As we scale delivery, clear documentation has become the difference between a solution that gets used and one that gets forgotten.
That's where you come in.
We're hiring a Technical Writer to be the connective tissue between our teams and our customers. You'll work side by side with our Implementation team, our Custom Solutions team, and the customers themselves, turning complex ERP configurations and custom builds into documentation people can actually use. That means both technical reference material and clear, step‑by‑step end‑user procedures.
Even better, this role is a front‑row seat to how ERP projects really get delivered. You'll learn the platforms, the processes, and the business problems behind them, which makes it a strong launching pad if you want to grow into ERP consulting down the road.
If you can sit in on a solution design session, understand what was built and why, and then write it up so a shop‑floor user or a controller can follow it without calling support, this role is for you.
What You'll Do- Partner with the Implementation and Custom Solutions teams to document technical solutions, including configurations, custom modules, integrations, BPM workflows, and design decisions.
- Interview consultants, developers, and customer stakeholders to capture how a solution works and how it is meant to be used.
- Write clear, customer‑facing end‑user procedures, SOPs, quick‑reference guides, and training material that match each customer’s actual workflow.
- Produce and maintain technical reference documentation such as design documents, configuration guides, and release notes that the delivery team and customers can rely on.
- Translate technical detail into plain language for non‑technical end users, while keeping the depth where engineers need it.
- Help build and maintain documentation standards, templates, and a consistent style so output stays clean and on‑brand across projects.
- Keep documentation current as solutions evolve, gathering feedback from customers and internal teams to improve clarity.
You'll have real ownership of how our solutions are understood and adopted. Your work goes straight to customers and shapes their experience with their ERP. We believe in growing our own people; we promote from within and invest in you with hands‑on training and paid certifications to build your skills as you go. You'll learn from a sharp, supportive team in a growing consultancy where good documentation is genuinely valued.
The office is right across the street from the beach.
- A strong writer with excellent written English, attention to detail, and a natural sense of structure and clarity.
- Curiosity about technology and business systems, and the drive to understand how things work.
- Good interviewing and listening skills, with comfort asking questions of consultants, developers, and customers.
- The ability to take something complex and explain it simply for different audiences.
- A self‑directed, organized approach, with the ability to juggle several projects at once.
- A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in English, communications, technical writing, business, information systems, or a related field.
- Comfort with tools like Word, Excel, Google Docs, Confluence, SharePoint, Snagit, or Camtasia.
- Any exposure to ERP platforms like Epicor Kinetic, Net Suite, or Zoho.
- Familiarity with manufacturing or distribution business processes.
- Internship or project experience in technical writing, documentation, or content creation.
- $50,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience.
