Position: Epic Beacon - IT Application/ Clinical Application Analyst (Hybrid/Remote)

Job Summary

IT Application Analyst‑Associate provides support for Epic and third‑party applications used by supported departments, including implementation, support, maintenance, and optimization of applications, systems, and technologies. The role requires collaboration with other IT teams, leadership, and end users to deliver cohesive product offerings and design and implement solutions that meet business requirements. Positions are located in Beacon (Oncology) and are hybrid for local candidates or fully remote for experienced, certified candidates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and test Epic and 3rd‑party applications for implementation, optimization, and ongoing support.
  • Perform comprehensive testing for all designated applications, documenting testing progress, reporting, and resolving identified issues.
  • Facilitate workflow design and validation in collaboration with end users.
  • Assess and document workflows for assigned applications by interviewing/shadowing users.
  • Determine areas for improvement and optimize workflows for existing applications, ensuring successful design, build, documentation, and integration testing while leveraging best practices.
  • Follow process methodologies, policies, and procedures for software support and maintenance to ensure integrity of electronic data.
  • Recommend technology solutions that improve the quality and efficiency of clinical and operational processes.
  • React quickly and appropriately to situations, anticipating needs, making informed decisions, and seizing opportunities.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Complete assigned tasks per defined project scope, timelines, and budgets for implementations, potentially working on multiple implementations simultaneously.
  • Update assigned requests and project tasks, effectively communicating status updates.
  • Report project or request risks promptly to appropriate team members and managers.
  • Coordinate installation of application changes following change‑control processes.
  • Assess incoming incidents, resolve issues, or appropriately escalates when resolution is not possible.
  • Use standard departmental processes and tools to ensure Service Line Agreement (SLA) compliance.
  • Participate in on‑call coverage responsibilities.
  • Adjust work hours as necessary to accommodate scheduled or unscheduled downtimes and implementations.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s highly recommended).
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in IT, healthcare, EHR development, and/or implementation.
  • Experience with Epic EHR preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry‑standard practices in application support functions.
Required Licenses, Certifications & Registrations
  • Active RN license to practice professional nursing in Texas (required for IT Clinical Applications Analyst).
  • Certification in the assigned Epic application required within six (6) months of hire and within 2 attempts.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • If currently holding a clinical license or certification, the employee must maintain it in accordance with the respective state governing board and complete all required education and training.

Interaction with Other Departments & Relationships
  • Internal:
    Interaction with all UMC departments, medical staff, technical personnel at TTUHSC and UMC Physicians, and future connect affiliates.
  • External:
    Work with multiple vendors from a support perspective.
