Service Now Software Engineer (Custom Development Focus, Remote)

Job Location s: US

• Design and develop custom Service Now applications using App Engine Studio and/or traditional scoped application development
• Build solutions beyond out-of-the-box functionality, including custom modules, data models, and platform extensions
• Clone, extend, and customize existing Service Now modules to meet customer-specific requirements
• Develop workflows, automation, and integrations with external systems (REST/SOAP APIs, third-party platforms)
• Write, test, and debug Service Now scripts (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flow Designer)
• Develop custom UI components (UI Pages, UI Actions, Service Portal elements)
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with Service Now best practices
• Analyze requirements and translate them into technical solutions, including researching and adapting platform capabilities as needed
• Collaborate with developers and team members within an Agile/Dev Sec Ops  environment (stories, estimation, lightweight ceremonies)
• Work independently on development tasks and progress assigned work items through completion
• Maintain and apply knowledge of Service Now data structures (tables, dictionary, relationships, CMDB)
• Configure and utilize MID Server for integrations and data movement
• Implement role-based access controls (RBAC) and platform security configurations
• Adhere to security and compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP/DoD/STIG)

• Operates with a high level of ownership and autonomy in a fully remote environment.
• Proactively progresses work and seeks out additional tasks when current work is completed
• Works closely with a small team, maintaining consistent communication and availability during the business day

• 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 7 years with HS diploma
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Able to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance
• Strong hands-on experience with Service Now development, including custom application and module development
• Strong understanding of Service Now data architecture, including tables, relationships, and CMDB structures
• Proficiency in JavaScript and the Service Now Glide API
• Experience building and customizing applications beyond out-of-the-box functionality
• Experience with Service Now domain separation concepts and implementation
• Working knowledge of Service Now security (roles, groups, ACLs, data access controls)
• Ability to independently analyze requirements and implement technical solutions
• Experience with integrations, automation, and platform customization
• Strong communication skills for working with stakeholders and translating requirements

• Experience with App Engine Studio is a plus, but not required

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
