Harris Technologies is looking for a Field Technician for the Company’s Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role will be responsible for support mainly in the Minneapolis, MN area and surrounding vicinity, including Wisconsin and Iowa.
- Support‑level position requiring thorough knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems and equipment.
- Installation, repair, configuration, testing and preventative maintenance of network equipment, telecommunications equipment and computers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft or UNIX operating systems and the MS Office Suite, and maintenance of repair records.
- Travel up to 100% of the time to remote sites within a 4‑hour drive circle of the base location; may travel outside the region as needed.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Obtain a FAA Public Trust.
- Working knowledge of cable connectors such as RJ‑11, RJ‑45, DB‑25, V.35, RS‑449.
- Excellent knowledge of fiber optics, multiplexes, network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T‑1, SONET, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications.
- Knowledge of power testing (AC/DC, 3‑Phase AC) and 24 VDC & 48 VDC power supplies.
- Experience with network and circuit testing per T‑1, DS3, BERT, VG testing within Bell Core Standards.
- Use of network test equipment: JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, digital oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, para‑scope, etc.
- Basic software troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Point of contact for unresolved problems from Help Desk or NOC.
- Install hardware and software, including operating systems and office applications.
- Provide computer hardware, software, and network technical support to end‑users.
- Setup and configuration of system hardware and software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or 2 years post‑secondary/Associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years related experience.
- Must be able to lift 32 lbs.
- Must be able to use ladders and step stools to reach heights of up to 10 ft.
- Willingness to work outside scheduled hours to meet operational needs and respond to after‑hours emergency calls.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a high‑stress, high‑visibility environment.
- Professional appearance.
- Capable of working from home in an “on‑call” status.
- Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Minnesota is $26.20/hr – $48.79/hr benefits include health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off and company‑paid holidays.
