Data Analyst, Data Engineer
As a Data & Analytics Consultant, you will be the glue for data technology, strategy, analytics, and processes will aggregate, transform, and refine Bible Project’s most important data into usable reports and analysis focusing on trends that could change future actions so that teams can make data-informed decisions around our conviction‑led initiatives. You will serve the Bible Project mission by tracking and analyzing the data that could shape our direction, helping teams make informed decisions over time.
On a typical day, you will be generously responding to stakeholder inquiries, collaboratively refining data requirements, quickly creating quality analytic charts, and storytelling about your work. This role is both technical and relational – you’ll be responsible for understanding our data, where it comes from, how it is processed, and turning that into actionable analysis, all while collaborating cross‑functionally to surface and communicate the stories behind the numbers.

WhatYou’ll Be Doing Core Responsibilities Leadership
- Lead data conversations across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Global, Strategic Relationships, and the Executive team, explaining data processes, technologies, and stories
- Champion our unique data strategy which focuses on prioritize work that tracks change and could influence direction, not fulfilling every data request or capturing every possible data set
- Drive monthly organizational data reports, delivering high-quality analysis on time
- Mentor the organization on data best practices
- Build relational trust by listening actively and communicating findings with empathy, clarity, and organizational context
- Translate raw data into clear and actionable reports, using compelling narratives and visualizations to communicate to a diverse audience of stakeholders
- Ensure analytic outputs are credible, consistent, and well-documented, maintaining high standards for data quality and process documentation
- Manage our external Data Engineering vendor, working closely with them to understand our data pipelines and schemas
- Maintain deep knowledge of our data norms, being able to spot outliers, anomalies, and potential data errors quickly
- Stay current on emerging data technologies and practices, sharing relevant learnings
- Communicate clearly, frequently, and effectively, being generous with your time and attention to others
- Proficiency in SQL, writing and optimizing queries for analysis and reporting
- Skilled use of Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools for data organization and charting
- Strong relational ability to connect quickly with team members in a remote work setting
- Expert storyteller, crafting compelling visualizations and narratives around data analysis
- 5+ years in a data or analysis related field
- Demonstrated ability to independently create reports and tell data stories
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven self-starter, beginning projects proactively and following through with quality
- Proven problem-solving tenacity, using available tools to get the job done
- Clear and concise communicator
- Continuous learner, regularly seeking new knowledge and asking insightful questions

Location:
This role can be performed from anywhere in the United States. Occasional travel to Portland, OR may be required.

Ellie Montgomery, Engineering Manager & Data Lead.
- The annual salary range for this position is $89,315 - $111,644. Competitive salary that scales with experience directly related to this role. Top tier in non‑profit market but will not match similar roles in for‑profit companies.
