Job Description
The Technical Publications System Analyst is the primary point of contact for processing, automating, and managing large technical manuals within the Automated Technical Manuals (ATM) and VISTA authoring environments. The incumbent uses Info Linker Plus to create rule‑based bookmarks and hyperlinks, generates Acrobat index files, and coordinates with Technical Publications writers, Quality Assurance, and Linking teams to meet contractual delivery schedules, troubleshoot system issues, maintain training materials, and support the overall Marietta Technical Publications operating environment.
Responsibilities- Process, automate, and manage large technical manuals in ATM and VISTA environments.
- Use Info Linker Plus to create rule‑based bookmarks, internal links, and external hyperlinks in large PDFs.
- Generate and maintain Acrobat index files.
- Coordinate with writers, QA, and linking teams to meet contractual delivery schedules.
- Troubleshoot system issues and perform root‑cause analysis.
- Maintain training materials and support the overall technical publications operating environment.
- Allocate workload approximately 80% to PDF‑automation/Info Linker Plus activities and 20% to support other team functions, with flexibility as project priorities change.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (versions 9, X, XI, or DC).
- Proficiency working in a Windows 10+ environment.
- Familiarity with technical publications authoring, indexing, and linking processes.
- Team collaboration skills and adaptability to shifting workloads.
- Analytical and problem‑solving ability for troubleshooting rule failures, system outages, and publishing issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented precision in rule creation and document handling.
- Experience with document authoring or PLM tools such as Frame Maker, Windchill, DIMS, Contenta, or S1000D.
- Proficient in Java programming.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Educational Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with C# programming is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) practices.
- Background in military or aerospace technical publications environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database query tools.
- Familiarity with issue tracking/reporting platforms such as JIRA, Service
FLO, Tableau, ECRS, and Live Content. - Experience with Info Linker Plus , including creating and maintaining rule‑based bookmarks, internal links, and external hyperlinks.
