The Lead Security Engineer will support Gartner’s App Sec function, executing daily vulnerability assessments, collaborating with stakeholders to identify risks, prioritize remediation, implement security tools, and engineer automation solutions.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to design secure applications, test for security weaknesses, and partner on remediation.
• Mentor engineers and security champions on threat modeling techniques.
• Triage and prioritize security risks, vulnerabilities, and exceptions.
• Coordinate orchestration, automation, and management of security technologies.
• Own day‑to‑day lifecycle management, including threat assessment and modeling.
• Create actionable reports showing direct impact on security posture.
• Define and implement metrics to measure effectiveness of security controls.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert for Application Security, acting as first point of contact for critical issues.
• Evaluate requirements to identify and implement tools, processes, and technologies.
• Use data to drive prioritization, highlight systemic issues, and influence roadmap decisions.

Ideal candidates will have 6–8 years in a Security Engineering role with experience in Dev Sec Ops , Cloud Security, and Application Security.

• Experience using vulnerability scanning technologies, AST platforms, and cloud security tooling.
• Formal experience with threat modeling.
• Experience leading projects, initiatives, and resources.
• Deep knowledge of risk assessment and prioritization.
• Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Policy as Code (PaC) concepts.

• Familiarity with SOC2, ISO 27001/27013, NIST 800‑53.
• Automation skills and programming experience (Java, .NET, HTML, Ruby, PHP, Perl, C#, Python, JavaScript, Power Shell, Bash).
• Experience with penetration testing and web application assessment.

• Proven communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with peers, stakeholders, and suppliers.
• Ability to define and communicate risk in business‑relevant language.
• Ability to solve complex business/technical issues strategically.
