Summary
The Data Protection Engineer Expert (PQC) will independently lead and perform data protection engineering activities including building, configuring, troubleshooting, integrating, and administering data protection technologies aligned with one of the data protection sub‑domains (Data in Transit, Data at Rest, Cryptographic Services, Strategy & Governance). The role supports core technologies such as DLP, DLP Investigations, Secure Data Transmission, Key Management, Certificate Management, Encryption, Data Discovery, Data Inventory, Tokenization, CASB, and Security Metrics/Reporting.
Responsibilities- Build, configure, troubleshoot, or administer assigned technology per BAU Data Protection engineering standard operating procedures and design BAU Data Protection engineering processes.
- Lead execution of scheduled engineering build/configuration events and incident (break/fix) events, including 24x7 support.
- Monitor technology output, respond to trouble tickets/events, provide independent analysis and root cause analysis, develop and test solutions, and recommend actions to management.
- Generate and publish performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend optimizations for continuous engineering and systems performance improvement.
- Document engineering activities in accordance with Agile project management methodology (backlog, change management, sprint planning).
- Design and maintain standard operating procedures, run books, and topology/data flow diagrams for aligned solutions.
- Support evaluation, selection, and implementation of data protection technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree or 4+ additional years of equivalent experience.
- 5–7+ years of IT or related experience or training (Military service may qualify).
- Basic understanding of Post Quantum Cryptography and related remediation efforts.
- Expert proficiency troubleshooting moderately complex IT infrastructure, server, and networking issues.
- Expert proficiency in technical system maintenance (patch management, configuration management, design documentation management).
- Direct engineering or operational lead/subject‑matter‑expert experience with related Data Protection technologies.
- Hands‑on working knowledge of at least two or more areas such as networking design, data privacy fundamentals, cyber security advanced concepts, or IT infrastructure advanced concepts.
- Intermediate programming skills (Python, Power Shell, Java, JavaScript, SQL, or equivalent).
- Hands‑on experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting related technologies or services within Cyber Security organizations; preference for Data Protection technologies.
- Background in Computer Science, MIS, IT communication systems, networking or a STEM discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Network+, A+, Server+, ITIL, Security+, CCNA, CCNP, or advanced Microsoft certifications.
- Strong business competencies, MS Office proficiency, excellent communication skills, effective multi‑tasking, advanced analytical problem‑solving, data correlation and analysis, and independent advocacy for process improvement.
